Will Working As A Bartender or Doorman At A Comedy Club Hurt a Career as a Comedian

I  want   to  get  a  support  job, i.e. ,  bartender, doorman, box  office  person, etc.  at  one  of  my  local  comedy  clubs  but  have  been  told by  a  well  respected  local  comedian   that  this   will  stunt  my  growth  as  a  comedian  at  the  same  club. Do  you  agree? THank  you  very  much.

Sounds like a good way to get additional stage time, which I've seen other people do.  The key, I believe is not to get so involved with the club activities that you limit yourself to growth as someone else has told you.  It happened to me, I got incredible stage time that I am forever grateful to have gotten, but remember to keep looking for opportunities to grow  Best of luck!
